Hindus calender's Ashar 15 (End of june)

Asar 15 also, commonly called as Ropain Festival or by Dahi Chiura Khane Din is celebrated in Nepal mostly by the farmers as well as by other peoples. Ropain means rice plantation in Nepali. It marks the day they plant new seedlings of the rice crop in the paddies.

Since Nepal is a country that is exclusively based on agriculture, this festival has its unique importance among the Nepalese. Locally it is believed that this day is the very day where you will grow quintal of rice by planting kilos. On this very day the farmers as well as almost all the Nepalese go to their paddy field where they will play with the mud and water, plough their field, plants the rice and eat Dahi Chiura (beaten rice with yogurt).
